#WhatMidwivesWant

What Women Want: Midwives’ Voices, Midwives’ Demands is a continuation survey of the successful advocacy agenda of the What Women Want campaign. The campaign is led by White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) in collaboration with the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM).

The survey results would be used to focus on real needs of women and their midwives. This advocacy agenda would be taken forward not only by Maternity Today, International Confederation of Midwives and White Ribbon Alliance, and ideally also by gender equality, human rights, and other related champions.

The Song Project

Maternity Today and Farm Radio International have teamed up with Dr. Michael Frishkopf of the University of Alberta to bring awareness to dire maternal and newborn health issues in Ethiopia, as well as promote overall maternal health in Africa. Unfortunately in Ethiopia, 1 in every 250 pregnancies result in maternal death, and 1 in 30 results in a newborn fatality. Dr. Frishkopf has produced this song with two of Ethiopia’s biggest musicians to create a greater awareness of these issues, and how to prevent them.
